Best Beer, The Best Burger...

Drop us a line, let us know your favorite place for a beer and a burger after a long day on the river. Tell us what river and why you enjoy the pub, restaurant or shack of your choice...

We recommend if you’re fishing the lower deschutes river and are heading back to Portland, Oregon, stop in at 6th Street Bistro in Hood River, Oregon. Hood River is about 40 minutes west of Heritage Landing. In Maupin, a steelhead trip just wouldn’t be complete without stopping at the Rainbow Tavern.

We believe Scientific Anglers created the best fly line ever made when they introduced the Sharkskin Trout Taper. Well for you steelhead anglers Scientific Anglers is now offering the ultimate performance of the Sharkskin in a steelhead taper. The Deschutes Article: Now Available

Deschutes River: A Special Place

The Deschutes begins her journey at Little Lava Lake, some 150 miles South of it’s final destination; the Columbia River. The River is a tail water, impeded by two dams which Steelhead cannot ascend. Flowing from south to north, the river cuts it’s way through an immense basalt canyon. Wildlife is abundant. It’s not uncommon to see bighorn sheep, black tail deer, otter, & mink during a day of fishing. Golden eagles sore on the rising thermals, while a wide variety of birds can be seen and heard closer to the river. Make no mistake, this is rattlesnake country. [Read More]

Echo Classic 13' #7 (Field Test)

Echo Classic 13' #7 Weight Spey Rod

The ECHO 13'0" #7/8 was designed as a light all round rod for medium to larger rivers that don't require casts much over 100 feet. It is a medium stiff medium action rod. It is designed for Steelhead and Atlantic salmon using any of the family of "Spey" casts. It can also be used with a sink tip or a Skagit head or Skagit line to get a fly down to the fish. The rod can handle a wide range of lines but feels good with a "standard" Delta Spey or Windcutter type line that has a head length of about 52 feet and a head weight of about 530 grains. If a Skagit type head is used the rod should be loaded with about 70 grains more than you would use with a "standard" floating line.

Line: 7/8
Length: 13'
Sections: 4
