About the Owner: Travis Duddles

Travis was born and raised in Hood River, Oregon, where he still lives today within easy reach of some of the Northwest’s most iconic steelhead water. His obsession with steelhead started early and eventually became a career when he founded Gorge Fly Shop, Inc. in downtown Hood River in 1992. That long connection to steelhead, gear, and the rivers of the region remains a big part of the foundation behind SteelheadBum.com.

Since then, Travis has guided anglers from around the world and helped thousands of people hook their first (or fiftieth) steelhead on a fly. He still loves getting out on the water, but most days he’s helping family, friends, and customers discover what steelheading is all about: the challenge, the reward, and the lifelong pursuit.
