Compact Scout Taper for Tight-Quarter Casting
Built for casting in tight quarters, the Airflo Superflo Max Scout Head – Float pairs a compact Scout taper with ultra-supple coatings for powerful, controlled deliveries. When casting space is limited, the Scout taper helps you make the most of your surroundings.
Airflo’s Two Hand series coatings help transfer energy that would otherwise be absorbed as the line flexes during the cast, delivering controlled power across temperatures.
Available in 180–600 grain weights, these floating heads range from 14.4 to 20.4 feet in length. Every size features a 30 lb braided core.

OVERVIEW
Our take: "One of the best modern short skagit heads. Tailored made for single hand spey, trout spey, switch, and shorter spey rods. The high grains per inch allow anglers to throw heavy tips and flies with ease." - Callum
Why We Like It
A true problem-solver. The Scout head excels where longer heads struggle—tight banks, limited backcast room, and quick shots. It loads instantly, turns over clean, and shoots like crazy.
Best Use
- Tight rivers and restricted casting environments
- Short to mid-length Spey and switch rods
- Skagit-style casting with floating or light tips
- Anglers who want fast loading and easy casting performance
Will it help beginners?
Often yes, because compact heads can make it easier to feel the rod load and keep the casting cycle simple.
