Airflo Superflo Max Skagit Comp F.I.S.T.

The Airflo Superflo Max Skagit Comp F.I.S.T. pairs Airflo's original triple-density Skagit head design with ultra-supple Superflo Max coatings. Floating, intermediate, and sinking sections combine in a compact head built for powerful deliveries with sink tips and bulky flies.

When your presentation needs to get below the surface, the F.I.S.T.'s density progression puts more of the head beneath the water than a fully floating design. Superflo Max coatings help transfer casting energy efficiently for controlled two-hand deliveries across temperatures.

Features

  • Original triple-density Skagit design with updated Superflo Max coatings
  • Floating / 1.5 inches per second / 3 inches per second density profile
  • Ultra-supple coating for efficient energy transfer and controlled casting
  • Compact head lengths from 20.5 to 23.5 feet
  • 42 lb braided core throughout the range
  • Designed for Skagit casting with sink tips and larger flies

OVERVIEW

Shop Notes: "Every winter steelhead angler needs a multi density head in their arsenal. While it does aid in getting your fly deeper, more important is that it slows your swing down. Allowing more time to tantalize the fish to strike." - Callum

This head is a strong fit for winter steelhead and salmon applications where heavy tips are standard and efficiency matters. It helps you pick up and reposition easily, maintain loop stability under pressure, and keep your swing in the zone rather than wasting energy on casts that collapse or wobble.

If your current setup feels underpowered with larger flies or denser tips, Comp F.I.S.T. is aimed squarely at solving that problem: quicker load, more punch, and cleaner deliveries with less drama.

Who it's for

  • Skagit anglers running heavier sink tips most of the season
  • Winter steelhead and salmon fishers who want more turnover power
  • Spey and switch casters who prefer a compact, efficient casting cycle
  • Anyone wanting a head that stays composed when pushed hard

Highlights

  • Purpose-built for heavy tips and big flies
  • Quick loading for compact, sustained-anchor casting
  • Stable loop shape for wind, rain, and high-water days
  • Great for short, efficient casts when you are covering water fast
  • A smart option for winter steelhead and salmon swing fishing

Ultra supple coatings allow our new series of lines to literally fly! Energy normally absorbed in the process of casting/flexing the line is now transferred effortlessly for more powerful controlled deliveries regardless of temperature. Our original triple density Skagit head design performs even better with the supple upgrade.

Floating. Intermediate. Sink Three. The Comp F.I.S.T. fishes deeper and slower than others because of its triple density construction. And it fishes tip down in the water column - creating a straight line from rod tip to fly. Features Power Core and printed, color-coded, welded loops for easy line identification.

Features

  • SuperFlo Max - Ultra Supple coatings
  • PVC Free
  • Power Loops
  • Low Stretch - 6%
  • Line Tag - Identification

FAQs (450gr to 660gr)

1) What rods does the 450gr to 660gr range generally cover?
Most commonly 6wt to 9wt two-hand rods and heavier switch setups, depending on rod length and how aggressive the rod’s Skagit window is.

2) Who should choose 450gr to 510gr?
Anglers fishing lighter 6wt style Spey or beefier 5/6 switch rods, or anyone prioritizing a slightly tighter, quicker casting cycle with moderate tips.

3) Who should choose 540gr to 600gr?
The “workhorse” zone for many 7wt and 8wt Spey rods, especially if you rotate between medium and heavier sink tips and want consistent turnover.
