Built to Stop What You Hook.
The Nautilus GTX is the ultimate heavy-duty saltwater fly reel, built for anglers targeting the biggest and fastest fish in the game. With 25+ pounds of maximum drag pressure, a fully sealed Pentadrag braking system, and capacity for up to 500 yards of 60-pound braid, the GTX is designed for offshore, bluewater, and destination fishing where everything from the fly line to the backing is going to be put to the test.
At 5 inches in diameter, the GTX combines a massive Giga Arbor with a narrow 1.05-inch spool to maximize line pickup while maintaining consistent drag pressure under extreme loads. The machined spool is designed to promote strength, rapid line pickup, and faster drying of backing to help minimize corrosion after hard use in saltwater.
Extreme Drag. Absolute Control.
The GTX's Pentadrag braking system uses five independent braking surfaces working together to distribute heat and friction across the drag assembly. Three cork-and-carbon-fiber surfaces and two floating carbon-fiber surfaces are topped by a Kevlar/carbon-fiber hybrid precision plate that spreads pressure evenly across the system.
The cork provides compression and helps smooth the transition as drag pressure increases, while the carbon fiber delivers the smooth, powerful performance Nautilus is known for. The entire system is fully sealed for extreme saltwater conditions.
With more than 25 pounds of maximum drag pressure, the GTX is engineered beyond traditional IGFA line-class limits for situations where maximum stopping power is required.
GripTorq Drag Knob
The oversized 1.9-inch GripTorq drag knob gives you the leverage and grip needed to make precise adjustments under pressure. The knob is four-axis machined to provide strength and control while keeping unnecessary weight to a minimum.
Nautilus' current design allows adjustment from zero to maximum drag in approximately 1¼ turns, giving you a broad range of usable drag pressure without excessive knob travel.
Giga Arbor. Maximum Pickup.
The GTX's large-diameter Giga Arbor is built for rapid line recovery when a powerful fish turns and comes back toward the boat. The narrow spool helps maintain consistent drag performance under heavy load, while machined grooves allow air and water to move through the backing for faster drying and reduced corrosion.

Built for Big Saltwater
The GTX is designed for the fish that turn ordinary tackle into a liability. Its extreme drag system and enormous backing capacity make it a purpose-built tool for tarpon, giant trevally, permit, tuna, sharks, sailfish, and other powerful saltwater species.
This isn't a lightweight all-around reel. The GTX is built around one job: giving you the drag power, line capacity, and control required when a truly powerful fish makes a long run.

OVERVIEW
The GTX is a 5-inch diameter reel with a narrow 1.1-inch wide spool that holds 500 yards of 60-pound braid. The spool is lightweight and intricately machined with our Giga spool design to promote strength, maximum line pickup, and fast line drying to prevent corrosion when stored.
The GTX Pentadrag braking system is a brand new design that is best described as a hybrid NV-G/CCF-X2/X-Series drag on steroids. The new Pentadrag features 3 cork and carbon fiber surfaces and two free floating carbon fiber surfaces that are topped with a Kevlar®/carbon fiber hybrid precision plate that ensures even pressure at all points of the drag surfaces. The cork acts as an insulation and compression material to ensure a smooth drag transition while the carbon fiber delivers the market-leading overall smoothness that Nautilus Reels is known for.
To control the drag tension, Nautilus designed the all new GripTorq drag knob. Intricately machined on 4 axes to promote light weight, strength and more grip than on any other drag knob in the industry. The GTX GripTorq drag knob measures 1.9” in diameter.
